Peter the Great taxed people for wearing beards! How rediculus can big government get? I mean, I knew he was a tyrant, but figured he was just a run-of-the-mill tyrant...but taxing people who grow beards? This is even more rediculus when you remember that all Russian Orthodox Priests grow out their beards (as a requirement of being a good priest). And do you think there was a tax-exempt clause for the Priests? Of course there probably wasn't!
